Road closures for 10th Annual Reindeer Run Friday, Dec. 7

The Republic Parks and Recreation Department will be conducting the 10th Annual Reindeer Run 5K on Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. The race begins and ends at J.R. Martin Park (300 E. Hines) and features an ‘out-and-back style’ route to ensure the safety of all race participants. The route utilizes a large stretch of Main Street and sections of Hines Street, Anderson Street and Pine Avenue. This route takes advantage of better street lighting, holiday atmosphere and increases visibility for participants. The event will necessitate restricting traffic on several downtown streets.
Reindeer Run 5K Route closed to through traffic from 6:45 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m.:
- North Main Avenue from Hines Street south to Pine Avenue;
- East Hines from North Main Avenue east to Hampton Street;
- East Anderson Street from North Pine Avenue to Park Drive.
Local traffic inside the closure area may pass the barricades; however, through traffic should utilize alternate routes. Detour routes will not be marked for this event; however, event staff and the Republic Police Department will be directing traffic at the key intersections on the route.
