Robert Carl Jerome

Robert Carl Jerome, Everton, passed away at the Cox South Hospital, in Springfield, on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, following a short illness. Jerome was born on Feb. 5, 1930 in Everton. He was the son of H.C. and Esther Jerome, both of whom preceded him in death. His loving wife, Ellen, also preceded him in death.
Jerome is survived by his sons, Robert, Jr. (Debbie) of Grain Valley, and David (Kathy) of Ozark, as well as Ted Mayfield (Regina) of St. Louis, Cathy Friend (Paul) of Greenfield, Randy Mayfield (Dianne) of Dallas, Texas, and Michael Mayfield of Ash Grove, his four step-children whom he loved as his own, He was also preceded in death by his only brother, William E. Jerome. His sister-in-law, Colleen, survives.
Jerome was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a former Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in Ash Grove. He was a maintenance man and machinist at Paul Mueller and retired from there in 1992. Bob and Ellen raised beef cattle on the farm that has been in the family since 1904, Bob was a former elder at the Everton Christian Church, Ellen and Bob moved to Ash Grove when she became ill, and there they attended the Ash Grove Christian Church. Bob resided back on the family farm at the time of his death. Bob was a 32 Degree Mason.
In addition to his sons and step-children, Bob is survived by a granddaughter and his three grandsons; several step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchil- dren, and nine step great-grandchildren. Jerome is also survived by his nephew Estel Jerome (Jan), niece Debra Noyes (Rex), and nephew Frank Jerome (Becky).
A graveside service was conducted at Sinking Creek Cemetery, Everton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019.
