RUBY "CAROLYN" SEXTON

Ruby “Carolyn” Sexton passed away on July 3, 2023. She was born Nov. 13, 1945 in Merkel, Texas to Kirkton B. Rhynes and Ruby Mae (Harris) Rhynes. She was raised in Abilene, Texas.

In 1963, she married Allen Doyle Davis and together they had two daughters, Julie Marcell “Marcy” (Davis) Burk and Kimberly Sue (Davis) Buster. They raised their family in California. She remarried in 2001 to John Lee Sext, she often said he was her soulmate. After losing John, Sexton with her daughters and their families moved to Missouri in 2004.

Sexton spent most of her life working with children as a teacher’s aide, a preschool teacher and later at a church preschool all the while babysitting her grandchildren, then great-grandchildren, whenever an opportunity presented itself.

Sexton will be deeply missed by her youngest daughter Kimberly Buster and husband Gary of Billings; son-in-law Allen Burk of Ozark; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters Judy Lines and husband Skip of Abilene, Texas, and Sandra Markey of Grant’s Pass Ore.; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Sexton was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Sexton, daughter Julie Marcell Burk and sister Patsy Mae Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at Springfield National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her soulmate, John.
