Sheriff’s department makes marijuana bust; street value of plants estimated at $500,000

A tip from a concerned citizen led to the seizure of at least 500 marijuana plants north of Ash Grove between Monday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 17.  
According to a posting on the Greene County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, the citizen called the sheriff’s office and reported suspicious activity on the 9000 Block of North State Highway V. Deputies went to investigate the activity, which led them to the property, where they found the plants a large number of marijuana plants in a growth operation. The posting estimated 500 to 800 plants were seized, and their collective street value is estimated at to be at least $500,000. The Drug Enforcement Agency is currently working with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
In addition to the plants, the deputies took two people into custody and are currently looking for two more for questioning. As of press time, charges had not been filed against the two in custody, and they were not identified.
