Sports season comes to end for Pirate boys golf, Lady Pirate softball

Two of Ash Grove’s High School sports programs saw their seasons come to an end last week, as softball and boys golf both lost in their district tournament. Meanwhile the baseball team had both of their games rained out last week.
Baseball
In baseball, Ash Grove had two games scheduled for last week as they were supposed to host Marionville on Tuesday, April 30, and Lock- wood on Thursday, May 2, but both games were rained out. The Pirates hosted both make-up games on Monday, May 6. Ash Grove beat the Marionville Comets, 3-1, but fell to the Lockwood Tigers thereafter, 11-2.
The Class 2, District 7 tournament is scheduled to get underway on Friday in Joplin as third seeded Ash
Grove will play Greenfield. College Heights Christian is the top seed; followed by Liberal, Ash Grove, Jasper,
Miller and Greenfield. The tournament will get underway on Friday when Ash Grove plays Greenfield and Jasper takes on Miller. The semifinals will take place on Monday, May 13, with the winner of Ash Grove and Greenfield playing against Liberal, while the winner of Jasper and Miller will play
against College Heights Christian. The championship game will be played on Tuesday, May 14.
Golf
In boys golf, the Pirates traveled to Windsor on Monday, April 29, to com- pete in the Class 1, District 3 tournament but finished in eighth place with a team score of 511.
Windsor won the district tournament, shooting a
combined team score of 379; Lockwood finished second with a team score of 392, followed by Lincoln (394), Cole Camp (404), Concordia (420), Green Ridge (431), Sacred Heart (438) and Ash Grove (511).
Zane Delk finished 29th with a 116; Dalton Robinson shot 120 for 33rd place, Tristan Bowers finished in 34th place with a 122, Samuel Moreland shot a 153 for 40th place and Benjamin Hines finished 41st with a 160.
Softball
The Lady Pirates traveled to Sarcoxie to take part in the Class 1, District 11 tourna- ment on Monday, April 29 but saw their season come to an end after falling to Miller 10-6. Ash Grove finished the season with a 5-18 record.
