Republic girls wrestling earns first-ever dual victory
The Republic girls wrestling program reached a milestone as it continues to grow, earning the first-ever dual victory for the school with a win over Bolivar at home Thursday. Republic won 36-24, with wins by Gabby Shanks, Nevaeh Ghan, and Aara Shade. Shade’s victory — her first individual win in her first season — secured the team victory. She pinned Bolivar’s Maddie Duncan in the third round. Two other Republic wrestlers, Millie Waterman and Anna McBroom, earned points in uncontested weight classes.
 
Republic boys wrestling team downs Lebanon, Bolivar
Republic’s strong start to the 2023–24 wrestling season continued with two more wins at home Thursday, first against Lebanon (52–19) and then against Bolivar (54–15).
In the two duals, seven wrestlers picked up two wins in contested matches for Republic. Phillip George, Ryland Rogers, Keaton Overcast, Manning Wilkins, Tanner Gonzales, Chase Hicks and Maddox Wilkins each won twice.
The win over Lebanon was the first on record for Republic. The Tigers improved to 5–1 overall in dual wrestling this season.
