Twelve Republic athletes from track squad advance to sectional competition

Twelve Republic athletes will compete at the state sectionals in Waynesville Saturday after qualifying at the district meet in Carthage. Republic had one district champion: Jasmyn Douglas won the 800-meter run and broke her own school record in the process.
Douglas was one of three Republic athletes to qualify for sectionals in three events. The others were Kaitlyn Ragsdale and Claye White.
Republic had six qualifiers in individual events overall: Ragsdale in the 100m dash and the 100m hurdles; Douglas in the 800m run; Lexi Reeves in the pole vault; White in the 400m dash, and A.J. Fenske in the discus.
Douglas, a sophomore, won the race of the day for Republic in the 800. She not only broke her own school record in the event with a time of 2:19.42, but she out-dueled Ozark senior Brocklyn Barber, the district favorite. The two raced down
