Violet Mae (Ruby) Melton

Violet Mae (Ruby) Melton, 77, passed away on Feb. 5, 2020, at her home in Republic. She was born May 12, 1942 to Paul and Nordis (Fordahl) Ruby in Bison, S.D.
Melton was united in marriage to Leonard Ray Melton on Jan. 19, 1963 and to this union were born five daughters: Vickie, Sharon, Karen, Pam and Lynnell.
One of her favorite activities was spending time with her 34 grandkids, whom she loved dearly and had a special bond with each one.
Melton is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray Melton of the home; her five daughters, Vickie Melton, Sharon (Rudy) Vaughn, Karen (David) McAdams, Pam (Rex) Kingery and Lynnell (Neil) Sikes; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four sisters and two brothers, Lila Stark, Delores (Tom) Livingston, Leroy Ruby, Richard Ruby, Frances (Ron) DeWeese, Rosella (David) Jacobs and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.
Melton was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Nordis Ruby; a brother Arlen Ruby; and a sister Hannah Oedekoven.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at First Baptist Church Brookline 2044 S State Hwy MM Springfield, Mo. 65802.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. with service following at 3 p.m.
