WAYNE FREY TOWNSEND

Wayne Frey Townsend, 91, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, in Clever. He was born on Nov. 1, 1932, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to William and Ruth (Frey) Townsend.
He spent his childhood in Wyoming and Nebraska before moving with his family to Bunker, when he was 21.
He served in the US Army and met Dolores Mahaffy while stationed in Yakima, Wash. The two married in Granger, Wash, on Sept. 2, 1957. They raised their four children in Rogersville, where they lived for 44 years before moving to Clever.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores; their children Laura (Mark) Gordon, Lecil (Gaby) Townsend, Lanelle (Rick) Horton, and Les (Tara) Townsend; his siblings, Eldon (Mary) Townsend, Lillian (Bob) Steward, and Edna Segar; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dolores Schupbach.
The visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 2, at Meadors Funeral Home in Clever. His service was held on Saturday, Dec. 3, with burial after at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
