Wayne Richard “Dick” Fortner

Wayne Richard “Dick” Fortner was born Jan. 16, 1942, to Ralph and Iona (Binkley) Fortner. He departed this life on March 28, 2022, after a long illness.
Fortner married Janice Lemmon on May 23, 1963, and they shared 58 years of marriage together. To this union was born one daughter, Diana Lynn.
Fortner was a member of Brighton Assembly of God Church and attended regularly until his health failed. He loved his church family, but most of all loved the Lord. After his retirement he especially enjoyed doing fun activities with his grandkids.
Fortner worked for Dairy Farmer’s of America, from which he retired after 42 years.
Fortner is preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Lawrence and Blanche Lemmon, and one infant granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Janice, of the home; daughter Diana (Jim) Lower of Fair Play, two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Fortner is also survived by brothers Francis, Dale, David and sister Gail Greer.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022 at the funeral home with burial following at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
