Wendell Wayne Garner

Wendell Wayne Garner, 78, of Marionville, passed away Sept. 7, 2019, in Monett. He was born in Garfield, Ark., Oct. 4, 1940, to Roy and Marie Garner. Garner was married to Sandy Marks and they shared nearly 30 wonderful years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Garner; and two sisters that died in infancy. Garner’s father was killed in a tragic traffic accident when Garner was only 11 and his mother, Marie, raised him by herself.
Garner graduated high school in Aurora in 1958 and was proud to have been a “Houn’ Dog.” After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he worked a while in construction and then for the Chicago Northwest Railroad. He took early retire- ment from the railroad in 1989 and moved to Branson, where he owned the Corner Deli and soon met Sandy. Later he owned Garner’s General Store in Billings and Aurora, and the Long John Silver’s. After retiring, he raised reining horses and cattle on his small property in Marionville.
Garner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Gideons of Greene County West, Republic.
Garner is survived by his wife, Sandy Garner; chil- dren, Greg (Cherri) Garner, Candace Garner, Christina Walden, and Mike (Jennifer) Garner; stepsons, Russell and Weston Marks; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
