Willard baseball defeats Pittsburgh, St. Mary’s and Waynesville

The Willard High School baseball team played in three games last week, going 3-2, including a 14 inning game to open the week.
The Tigers traveled to Pittsburgh, Kan., on Saturday, April 13, to take on Pittsburgh and St. Mary’s Colgan, winning both games of the double header.
Against Pittsburgh, Willard scored two runs in the second inning and single runs in the third and seventh innings to win the game 4-2. Pittsburgh scored their only two runs in the fourth
inning. Noah Wooldridge went
1-2 with a triple and an RBI, Tyler Harre was 1-2 with a double and an RBI, Ethan Thompson went 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Cole Biellier was 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Willard scored three runs in the second inning against St. Mary’s Colgan and then held on for a 3-2 win.
Jacob VanDoren was 1-3 with an RBI; Thompson went 1-3 with an RBI and Biellier was 1-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Willard hosted Waynes- ville on Friday, April 12,
scoring two runs in the first inning and four runs in the fourth inning to win the game 6-3.
Garrett Rice went 1-2 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI; Thompson finished 3-3 with two runs scored and Wooldridge was 1-4.
The Tigers hosted Neosho on Thursday, April 11, and were shut out for the first time this season, 3-0. Rhett Anderson went 2-3 in the loss.
Willard opened the week hosting Nixa on Tuesday, April 9, but fell to the Eagles 6-5 in 14 innings.
Willard scored a run in the first inning, but was trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh before scoring two runs to tie the game up. Nixa scored three runs in the top of the 14th inning and Willard did answer but came up a run short, scoring just two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Thompson went 1-5 with a home run, a run scored and an RBI; Biellier was 2-5 with a home run, a double, a run scored and two RBI’s and Wooldridge finished the day 2-6 with a double and two RBI’s.
