Willard girls golf comes up just short in sectional play

The 2019 girls golf season has come to end for Willard High School, as three members came up just short at the sectional round on Monday, Oct. 8, in Joplin.
Kamryn Amstutz finished with a 106; Raelyn Schapler ended with a 112 and Haylee Bogner hit the clubhouse with a score of 118. The cutoff score to qualify for state was 93.
"It's frustrating to end on a day when you know you were capable of more than the performance you had,” said head coach Matt Stone. “However, it was a very successful season for these girls. There is a reason they were there today and that is due to the work they have put in both during the season and last summer with us. It always hurts a little more when you watch a senior finish her career, especially one that has been as good for us as Kamryn has been. We are going to miss her greatly along with our other two seniors (Louren Harsh and Jenna Kaufman)."
