Willard Lady Tiger volleyball picks up two more wins in play last week

The Willard High School volleyball and girls golf
teams were both in action last week, with the volleyball team picking up two wins and the golf team competing in two tournaments.
In volleyball, the Lady Tigers hosted 24th nationally ranked Logan-Rogersville on Thursday, Sept. 12 and ended the night with a 2-1 victory, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-15.
Ashton Wildermuth led Willard with 33 assists; Em- ily Terry led with 18 kills and Taylor Crighton led the Lady
Tigers with 14 digs. “The Tigers had to all
come together to overcome losing Junior D1 MSU commit Payton Vanveen, who tore her ACL Monday night in warm ups,” said head Jamalee Hancock. “We were all playing for Payton last night, the girls made ribbons for their shoes, in honor of her. It was an outstanding team effort. She is such a talented player, and it’s a huge loss for our team, but our senior class led the Tigers to victory over a very talented Rogersville squad.”
The Lady Tigers traveled to Marshfield on Monday, Sept. 9 and came home with a two set win, 25-15 and 25-20.
Wildermuth led Willard with 23 assists; Ashley Lash- er and Kindall Smithson led with 11 digs, Lasher also led Willard with nine kills and Terry led with two aces.
With the wins, Willard is now 9-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Glendale on Tuesday night and will travel to Fair Grove tomorrow night.
