In the seventh-place game on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Pittsburgh, the Lady Tigers knocked off Cassville to claim seventh place, 70-53.
On Friday, Jan. 21, Willard lost to Wichita East High School of Kansas 50-37.
Willard opened the tournament against Blue Valley Northwest High School of Overland Park, Kan. but after getting out to an early lead fell to the Lady Huskies, 40-27, on Thursday, Jan. 20.
Willard opened the week by traveling to Neosho on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and came home with a 67-48 victory.
The Lady Tigers led 23-10 after the first quarter and 40-23 at the half. Neosho outscored Willard 16-13 in the third quarter to cut their lead to 53-39 but the Lady Tigers tightened up their defense in the fourth allowing only nine points, allowing the 19-point victory.
“Our team displayed a lot of positive effort and energy tonight at Neosho,” said head coach J. J. Adamson. “We hadn’t played in a week, and it was good to get back on the floor. I thought we showed a lot of maturity heading into a big weekend tournament in Pittsburg, Kan.”
Carolina Crawford paced Willard with 31 points, Brielle Adamson added 18 points and Madison Mills ended the game with 10 points.
The Lady Tigers are now 7-7 on the season and will host Springfield Kickapoo tomorrow night.
