William “Bill” Greeson

William “Bill” Greeson, 77, of Republic, passed away with his loving wife by his side, at his home early Saturday, July 17, 2021. He was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Decatur, Ill., to William and Ruth (Wikowski) Greeson, the oldest of two children in the home.
He graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Ill. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and honorably served his country. Greeson had five children, Stephanie, Keith, Cathy, Erin and Travis. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. He was a
Troop Leader for Troop 174, as well as Pack Leader for Pack 74 in Republic. Setting an all-time record for the amount of popcorn sold for one troop, that has yet to be broken. In 2001, he received his master’s degree in scouting. He also served as the District Commissioner.
Greeson drove the Red Route on The Bear Line for 15 years at MSU, he was a master custom cabinet maker, as well as a courier for THE BANK in Springfield.
Greeson married Debra Woodman on June 4, 1987, and recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. He had attended Calvary Baptist Church until his heath declined, and then he, along with his neighbors and friends, would hold a weekly Bible study in his home, with Pastor Denny Marr, from Calvary Baptist Church leading.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Gail, granddaughter Rachel and brother-in- law Lyle Woodman.
Greeson is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Debra, children; Stephanie Jarrett, Keith Greeson and his wife Michelle, Cathy Simmons, Erin Shirer and her husband Fred and Travis Greeson and his soon-to-be-wife Britany Simmons, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Doug King, Sr. and Brian Woodman, sister-in-law, Shari Bower and her husband Vinnie, one great-great nephew, his four-legged sidekick Sophie, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
An open visitation was from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, in Calvary Baptist Church, with a celebration of life following at 6:30 with Pastor Denny Marr leading the celebration. Family has requested, that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Greeson’s name to The American Kidney Foundation (1001 Craig Road, Ste. #480, St. Louis, MO 63146 ).
