Ash Grove resident Ronessa Williams was sworn in as a Ward 2 alderman to the Ash Grove Board of Aldermen the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 20. Williams’ appointment and installation was made possible by the departure of Cody Allhands, who recently moved outside of his ward thereby vacating the position.
Williams appointment by Mayor Caleb Smith was accepted by the three other aldermen, one of whom—Kyle Feasel—wasn’t at the meeting in person but voted by phone for Williams board vacancy fulfillment.
Tax levy
Also during the relatively brief meeting, the board voted to accept the general property tax levy of $.5286 per $100 assessed valuation. The general fund revenue generated by the levy in 2024 will be an estimated $97,870. The total is the result of $14,964,417 from real estate valuation and $3,550,609 in personal property valuation, totaling $18,515,026 taxable dollars.
Development incoming
Public Works Director Chris Boyd reported that Spencer Goodman, developer of the much-discussed future subdivision on Ash Grove’s extreme west side, will soon be by with a builder to meet everyone. Boyd added that they should be breaking ground (on what is possibly the biggest subdivision in Ash Grove’s history) by next month.
