Willis E. Jones

Willis E. Jones, 97, of Harrisburg, passed away, on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
Jones, the son of Thomas and Pearl Gladys (Knott) Jones, was born in Miller, on May 6, 1922. On July 15, 1941, Willis and Gertrude B. Gibson were united in marriage and
shared over 55 years together, before Gertrude’s passing in 1997. Willis was later married to Betty Barnes in 2001 and they shared over 12 years together, before Betty’s passing in 2013.
Jones faithfully served in the United States Army during WWII. After his time in the service he went to work with the 773 Local Union Labors Association of America. For 25 years, he worked as a journeyman elec- trician for University of Missouri. He also was president for 25 years of the local union and was a proud 50 year card member of the local union. After retiring, Jones began playing golf five days a week and also enjoyed bowling. He was also an active member of Rockbridge Christian Church.
Jones was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gertrude Jones; second wife, Betty Jones; two daughters, Barbara Watanabe and Mary Akers.
Jones is survived by his children; Carolyn Adolf and husband Charles of St. Charles, Thomas Jones and wife Lori of Harrisburg; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Roy Watanabe of St. Peters; other family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown.
