Ash Grove Board of Education member David Alborn, who successfully led the charge for a 4-day school week at the district, has resigned eight months short of his elected term. The resignation was announced at the board's July 23 meeting, in Alborn's absence.

An Ash Grove man was taken into custody on Saturday, July 5, after he allegedly fired a shotgun at a person. John Samuel King, 52, is charged with first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
