Betty Wood

Betty Wood, 88, of Republic, passed away with her loving family by her side, on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021. She was born Thursday, March 10, 1932 in Neosho, to Arthur and Nora (Branstetter) Hawk. She was the youngest of seven children in the home.
Wood graduated in 1950 from Neosho High School. She married Leroy Wood on May 3, 1952. This union was blessed with three daughters, Kris, Kim and Debbie. Leroy and Betty spent 59 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011.
Leroy and Betty opened the First State Bank of Marionville in 1963. In 1966 they moved to Republic, taking over the operations at Security State Bank, now known as Commerce Bank. After retiring, Wood was a homemaker. She was a member of Republic First Christian Church since 1966 and loved to support her church.
Wood is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy and her six siblings. She is survived by her three daughters: Kris Goodman and husband Norman of Chesterfield; Kim Notz and husband Kevin of Republic; and Debbie Gast and husband Kenney of Town and Country; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Republic First Christian Church with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
