Beverly Kay Yount

Beverly Kay Yount, 89, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Birch Point Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield. She was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Crane, the daughter of Emmett and Amanda (Andrus) Salkill.
She worked for Anderson Uniforms in Mt. Vernon and attended the Church in Action in Mt. Vernon.
On Feb. 10, 1954, she married Homer Glen Yount in Springfield. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2008.
She is survived by her two daughters, Myra Barnes and her husband, Frank, of Mt. Vernon and Laura Giles and her husband, Kelly, of Republic; one brother, Carroll Salkill of Aurora; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; one daughter, Glenda Yount and four brothers, Loren, Rudolph, Robert, and Willard Salkill.
A graveside service under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Wade Chapel Cemetery in Republic.
