Burger King out, Mister Car Wash in

Shown above, A sold sign sits on a lot along U.S. Highway 60 formerly meant for a Burger King restaurant. Following a recent purchase, its future now holds a Mister Car Wash.

A new Mister Car Wash will be coming to Republic soon according to Chris Tabor, principal planner in the Republic BUILDS department. The location for the car washing chain will be right off U.S. Highway 60, between Aldi and Arby's. The site was once slated to have a Burger King but the location has since been reallocated for the wash.
"This is the same property. Burger King simply sold it to someone else," said Tabor.

The new enterprise is planned to span 4,884 square feet, but the construction of the area has not yet begun due to the lack of a contractor. The permit has already been prepared to be issued but is awaiting its pickup while the developer of the property searches for a contracting company. Once one is selected, Tabor said, they will be able to sign for the permit and obtain their copy of the approved plans.

The Burger King that was once scheduled to be built is now kaput. The project faced some issue which led to it continually being put on hold and off again for about three years, said Tabor.

There is no timeline on the construction of the new Mister Car Wash, as construction remain elusive. At this time, there are two active car washes in the Republic area, not counting one which is currently defunct said Tabor. With Car Bar—just across the highway—opening in May of this year, this will make the second car wash to pop up in Republic this summer alone.
