CHARLOTTE LOUISE COMBS

Charlotte Louise Combs was born May 2, 1935, and passed away to her heavenly home Jan. 1, 2025.
Charlotte was born in Springfield, the second daughter of Gentry and Goldie Rathbun.
Charlotte grew up and attended schools in the Springfield and Ash Grove area.
She married Dallas Combs on July 4, 1952. On a farm four miles north of Halltown, in rural Lawrence County, they raised their three children, Pam, Greg and Teresa. A dedicated homemaker, she always made sure her family was taken care of. She was an excellent seamstress and made all of her daughters’ clothing. She claimed her career was her children.
In her later years, her hobbies included crafting and antiquing; even opening her own collectibles store.
Charlotte possessed a great sense of humor, and a kind and gentle spirit. She always put others before herself. She was baptized in the Christian faith in her early twenties. She carried a lovely disposition until the end, a true testament to her character as she battled advanced dementia in her final years while a resident of Strafford Care Center.
Charlotte is survived by daughter Pam Squibb, husband Steve; son Greg Combs, wife Arlette; daughter Teresa Rude, husband Arthur. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and other family.
Charlotte is preceded in death by husband Dallas Combs; grandson Jason Combs; her parents; sister Loretta Shaffer and her husband Dave.
We also want to thank the staff at Strafford Care Center and the Preferred Hospice workers for the compassionate care given to our mother.
A short service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE, Springfield. A private burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery will be officiated by Rev. Mark Zimmerman.
