DARREL D. MCKINZIE

Darrel D. McKinzie, 82, of Brookline passed away on July 30, 2025. He was born in Bentonville, Ark. on Jan. 14, 1943; the ninth of ten children born to Roy Charles and Pearl Opal McKinzie.
He served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966 as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (ADR3) stationed at Moffett Field in California. Following his service, he channeled his skills and creativity into entrepreneurship by founding and operating his own sign-making and painting company.
He was a loving husband to Carol Jean McKinzie and a proud father of four sons.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean; his sons: Scott Michael (Mimi) McKinzie, Stanley Warren McKinzie, and Stuart Wayne (Dianne) McKinzie; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Ray McKinzie (1965–1983); his siblings: Roy Lee, Rolla Eugene, Mildred Ione, Harold Dean, Opal Louise, Reva Fern, Jackie Dale, Paul Dettro, and Shirley Ann.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 6, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home located at 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St. in Springfield. Burial followed at 1 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery located at 5201 S. Southwood Rd. in Springfield.
