Deborah Ann Schmidt

Deborah Ann Schmidt, of Republic passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Dec. 20, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on Nov. 2, 1959, in Lexington, to William and Margaret (Manning) Hackett and was one of seven children.
She had two children, Brad and Daniel. She worked as a waitress and in retail when she wasn’t being a homemaker raising her boys. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her sons, Brad Ferguson and wife Sarah and Daniel Ferguson and wife Alicia; four grandchildren; siblings Dennis (Debbie) Hackett, Jennie Oetting, Bruce (Dana) Hackett, Roy (Jen) Hackett and Henry (Lori) Hackett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Schmidt, brother Billy Hackett and her parents.
A visitation was on Monday, Dec. 29, from 11 a.m. to noon, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic with funeral services following at noon. She will be laid to rest with her husband Donald at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens in Springfield. Online condolences may be made to www.meadorsfuneralhome.com.
