DELMAR LEE WHITE

Delmar Lee White, 82, of Republic passed away with his family by his side, on Dec. 26, 2023. He was born on May 25, 1941, in Silva, the son of Jacob and Cora (Taley) White and was one of 14 children in the home.
He graduated from Greenville High School and then enlisted in the US Army. He honorably served for 24 plus years, to include two separate tours in Vietnam, as well as being stationed in Germany and Greece.
On April 13, 1965, he married Helen Kimbrough and together they were blessed with three children, Thomas, Sherry, and Peggy. After he retired from the Army, he began employment with Hoods Service Station, where he spent the next 30 years in various positions within the company. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church since 1978, where he served as the treasurer as well as a trustee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen; daughter, Peggy (Jeff) Asher; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobby White, Dorothy (Larry) Lewis and Richard (Naty) White; numerous nieces and nephews; his church family which he considered his family; as well as other extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry; son, Thomas; his parents; and siblings, James, Bea, Frank, Junior, David, Vincent, Stella, Alford, Albert, and Betty.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery, where he received full military honors.
