Denver Eugene Looney

Denver Eugene Looney, passed away Jan. 27, 2021. He was born December 1, 1946 in Gainesville, to Lloyd and Kathryn (Rowles) Looney.
Looney graduated from Republic High School in 1965. He joined the United States Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was discharged with honors in May of 1969.
He married Janice (Sims) on April 25, 1970. They were married for 50 years and had two children; Lance (Lori) and Brad (Nicki) Looney; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Denver and Janice owned and operated Republic Glass for 42 years, 1978-2020. They worked side by side with their two sons for 30 years, and later, a grandson.
Looney loved dirt track racing. He spent 31 years following his son, Brad and recently, grandson Payton.
Looney is also survived by three sisters, Gladene White, Karen Kelly and Connie (Terry) Britain; two brothers, Jack (Judy) Looney and Bob Looney; two brothers-in-law, David Sims and Randy (Teresa) Sims; three sisters-in-law, Jami (Dan) Stocker, Sharon Johnson and Sandra Price, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Looney is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Keith and Stan Looney.
An open house visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Honor Flight in Looney’s honor.
