Annual summer kickoff event draws dessert-loving crowd to city park
Enjoying beautiful weather, a decent crowd of FFA supporters, community members and high schoolers turned out for the fourth annual Ash Grove FFA Calf Fry held Saturday, June 1, at Ash Grove City Park. The day’s events included a tractor parade, a judged contest of ag shop projects, live music, dessert auction, donut eating contest and the fine Ozark cuisine of freshly fried calf testicles. Not yet on the payroll, incoming Ash Grove superintendent Shane Medlin—who starts July 1—volunteered his time as a ringman for the auction. Here he displays an exceptional cheesecake for bid.
