Five Republic seniors attend Missouri Boys State
During the week of June 22-29, Republic High School seniors Christopher Clark, Hayden Hradek, Gavin Collyott, Zach Alexander and Miles Turner attended the 84th session of Missouri Boys State on the campus of Lindenwood University.
Missouri Boys State offers exceptional rising high school senior boys a chance to spend a week building a government from the ground up, electing officials, attending schools of instruction, and operating businesses. While there, students were given the opportunity to listen to amazing speakers including Anthony Robles, Sarah Hurwitz, Michael Steele, Governor Mike Parson and Mara Liasson. The students were even afforded an opportunity to interact and learn from the member of the Missouri House of Representatives from Republic, Representative Bishop Davidson, who is a Republic High School graduate and former Missouri Boys State citizen himself.
On a special note, Hayden Hradek won the top honor at Missouri Boys State, being elected the 84th Governor of the program. He will return next year to govern the 85th session until his successor is elected.
Candidates are nominated by their school based on their leadership, character, academics and citizenship. Fees for the program are covered by sponsors.
Completing the program unlocks access to numerous scholarships and college credits.
