FRANCES (BRASHEARS) BROWN

Frances (Brashears) Brown, 97, of Springfield, formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at the Republic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Republic. She was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Gustave August Wilhelm and Selma Caroline Dorethea (Aufdembrink) Block.
She was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a bookkeeper for various car dealerships. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt.
On Dec. 26, 1946, she married Edwin Lee Brashears, in Freistatt. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8,1978. On March 28, 1997, she married Vern Brown, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2008.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Karen) Brashears of Springfield; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Edwin, and Vern; three brothers, Melvin, Victor, and Reno Block; and two sisters, Lora Block and Marjorie Cornett.
A celebration life was held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon. The burial will be held at a later date at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
