Gerald Ray Geren

Gerald Ray Geren, 87, of Nixa passed away with his loving family by his side on Oct. 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born in Modesto, Calif. on Nov. 22, 1937, the son of Rev. Ray and Loretta (Penny) Geren.
He graduated from Clever High School in 1955. He had one son, Jonathan. On July 6, 2012, he married Iris K. Kemp. He was a Specialist E-5 Combat Engineer with the United States Army from April 1956 to April 1959. He was an electronics business owner for 16 years in Houston, Texas, but spent the last 10 years before retiring in 2004 working in the real estate business with his sister Connie S. Voigt. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Tri-Way/Island Green Golf Club in Republic. He was a Christian and as a member of Nixa Church of the Nazarene; he enjoyed attending and worshiping with his fellow members. He and Iris sponsored many youth programs, mission trips and other church programs.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Iris; son Jonathan Geren and wife Laura; sister Connie S. Voigt; granddaughter Kristina Geren; step-children Randy, Steve and wife Tammy, and Kathy and husband Tim; numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as Peter and Andrea Rowley and their children who lovingly adopted both Gerald and Iris into their family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nixa Church of the Nazarene’s youth programs. A visitation was on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 10-11 a.m. at Nixa Church of the Nazarene (306 Northview in Nixa); funeral services that followed at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gary Swearengin and Pastor Michael Downs officiating and under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. He will be interned during a private family burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Clever at a later date.
