GLORIA JEAN (GRAY) MOON
Gloria Jean (Gray) Moon, 77, of Schoolcraft, Mich., formerly of Ash Grove passed away on Aug. 23, 2024. She was born in Springfield on Feb. 10, 1947, to George and Patsy (Simmons) Gray.
She graduated with honors from Ash Grove High School in 1965. After two years of classes at Southwest Missouri State University, she began a 30-year career in the sales and telecommunication industry working at Southwestern Bell in Springfield.
In 1975, she married Richard “Dick” Moon. The two were married for 49 years.
After getting married, she moved to Michigan and secured a job at Custom Communication and after eight years, she moved on to Cellular One in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area. Eventually, she became the Regional Corporate Accounts and Public Relations Manager for Century Cellunet until she decided to start her own consulting and public relations firm. She was a Kalamazoo Rotarian and a three-year president and board member of the Kalamazoo Management Association. She was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ and was also an accomplished pianist. She was a member of Kalamazoo First Assembly.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; her four sons and daughters-in-law: Rick (Tina) Moon of Florida, Rob (Tracy) Moon of Florida, Rollie (Jenni) Moon of Florida, and Tony (Becky) Moon of Portage, Mich.; her brother, Mike (Paula) Gray; sister, Marsha Overholser; and her stepmother, Barbara Gray all of Ash Grove; sisters-in-law: Janet Moon, Mary Conley, and Lynn Mohler (Conley); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. She will be laid to rest at the Schoolcraft Cemetery following the service surrounded by immediate family.
