HAZEL MARIE (SLOAN) TAYLOR

Hazel Marie (Sloan) Taylor, 90, passed away ob Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. She was born on May 31, 1933, the daughter of Jesse Clay and Bertha (Aldrich) Sloan in Springfield.
She graduated in June of 1951 from Central High School in Springfield. She was an active member of the Bois D’Arc United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher, a member of UMU and was always available to help in anyway with Vacation Bible School until her health prevented her from doing so. Hazel was also an active member in the Bois D’Arc Braves 4-H Club as a leader in boys cooking, several sewing groups, child development, and floral arrangements. She loved caring for her family, cooking, and canning. She loved to bake and specialized in hot rolls and cinnamon rolls.
She married Oris Junior Taylor on July 1, 1951, at Bois D’Arc United Methodist Church. They were married for over 42 years before he passed away in 1991.
She is survived by her children, Tywana K. (Todd) Starr, Phyllis (Tom) West, Donnie (Leann) Taylor, Gary Taylor and fiancé Michelle Rote; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Junior Taylor; her parents; her son-in-law, Stephen Thornbury; and step-grandson, Justin Thornbury.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Bois D’Arc United Methodist Church with burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
