HENRY GEORGE CONNER

Henry George Conner, 67, of Springfield passed away on Sept. 18, 2024, at Spring Valley Rehab in Springfield, after a long illness. He was born on Dec. 5, 1956, to Fred and Helen Reynolds and was adopted by Rev. George E. and Hazel M. Conner of Walnut Grove when he was five years old.
He grew up on the family farm and was saved at a young age. He graduated in 1975 from Walnut Grove High School. He worked at Lily Tulip Cup Company from 1975-1978 and General Electric in Springfield for over 25 years from 1978-2004 from which he retired. He was a Baptist preacher in his early years and preached in several churches including Stockton Free Will Baptist Church and Bethel Community Church of Fair Play. He also drove a cab for many years in Springfield and the surrounding areas.
He is survived by his children, Sarah E. Conner of Stockton and Jonathan (Anita) Conner of Springfield; step-children, Christine and Charity (Leah) Conner; four grandchildren and their spouses; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; his  sisters: Sue (Mike) McDowell of Arvilla, Marie Cook of Greeny, Colo., Faye Reynolds of Overland Park, Kan., and Betty Kausman of Mount Ridge, Kan.; brother, Harley Conner of Staton, Calif.; along with host of nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by parents and adoptive parents; sister, Thelma Scroggins; brothers, Frederick and Tommy Reynolds; and brothers-in-law, David Scroggins and Dallas Cook.
Visitation and services will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home in Walnut Grove. Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
