James Michael “Mike” Kelley, 71, of Monett passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. He was born on Dec. 30, 1952 in Monett, the son of James Raymond “Unk” Kelley and Oleta Cora (Hammers) Kelley.
He graduated from Monett High School in 1971 where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. After high school he studied radiology. He began his career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Monett, followed by Cox-Monett Hospital and lastly, he owned and operated Innovative Mobile Services of Joplin, a mobile x-ray service.
On Feb. 6, 1976, he married Terri Lynn Douthitt in Miami, Okla. Together, they shared over 30 years of memories made together.
He is survived by his son, Jason (Simona) Kelley of Agoura Hills, Calif.; his step-daughter, Jennifer (Neil) Rountree of Republic; his five grandchildren; his brother, Tony (Vicky) Kelley of Monett; two nieces; two nephews; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Terri; his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly “Sue” and Alex Svoboda; and a nephew, Colt Kelley.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at New Site Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Rev. Aaron Weibel officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
