James Michael “Mike” Long

James Michael “Mike” Long, 67 of Everton, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021. He was born Feb. 6, 1953 to James Charles and Dorothy Reba (Brookshire) Long in Blount County, Tenn. On Dec. 14, 1973, Mike and Patricia Ann were united in marriage and shared over 47 years together. Long worked for IBM as an IT specialist. After completing the New Tribe Missions Bible College in Jackson Mich., top in his class, Mike and Pat dedicated themselves to serve as traveling missionaries in the bush of Papua, New Guinea. After completing the mission, Mike and Pat were transferred to New Tribes Mission headquarters in Sanford, Fla. to begin networking their first email system for all their missionaries around the world to communicate more effectively. After the work was completed with New Tribes Mission, Long was the pastor of a Cowboy Church in Lenoir City, Tenn. Long is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Long; daughters, Kellie Hinkle, Monica Mills; sisters Trish, Jeannie, brothers Nathan, David and Bradley and their spouses, sister in-laws, Nancy Bible, Mattie Hall and their spouses, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Dorothy Long. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Directions under Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove.
