Jeffrey Lynn Messenger

Jeffrey Lynn Messenger, 75, of Republic passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov. 28, 1949 in Scott City, Kan. to Harry Vernil Messenger and Vada Lamoine Messenger (Robinson).
He was a proud veteran and served four years in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer Third Class, an enlisted rank responsible for maintaining aircraft electronic systems like radar, radio, and navigation equipment. He also served for two years at the naval base in Corpus Christi, Texas as an electronic mechanic on aircrafts.
Following his service, he embraced a life of entrepreneurship, using his sharp mind, strong work ethic and leadership skills to build a successful career. He also served his community with distinction as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, where his diplomacy and integrity earned him respect across all walks of life.
On Oct. 5, 1968, Jeff married Wanda Fay Messenger (Kelsay), his devoted wife of 57 years. Together they raised two sons, Jeffrey Lynn Messenger II (wife Emily Louise Messenger) and Eric Dee Messenger. He was a proud and loving grandfather. His Christian faith guided his life and was reflected in his unwavering care for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Steven Messenger.
He is survived by his wife, his two children, three grandchildren and three sisters Terry Erwin, Linda Richardson and Cheryl Brown.
A visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, and funeral services conducted by Pastor Steve Lynch followed at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
