Jordan gets life for fatal drunken driving crash

A Republic man has been sentenced to three life terms in prison for a drunk driving crash that took the lives of three people. Steve Jordan, 67, received the sentence on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Greene County Justice Center.
Jordan pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder on Aug. 21 of this year. He also pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, habitual, for which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison; two counts of driving while intoxicated, serious physical injury, for each of which he was sentenced to seven years in prison, and three more counts of driving while intoxicated, for each of which he was sentenced to four years in prison. He will serve all sentences concurrently.
As part of his plea agreement, three counts of DWI – Death of another were dismissed.
Details in the case
The Greene County Commonwealth previously reported that on Jan. 20, 2023, Jordan was driving a white Dodge pickup truck on the wrong side of James River Freeway at about 1 a.m. near West Bypass in Springfield. He struck a Ford Expedition head-on, resulting in a crash that killed three people who were riding inside the vehicle.
A blood sample obtained by a Greene County deputy sheriff found that Roberts blood alcohol content at the time of the crash was .200 percent. It was noted that he had a strong smell of alcohol about him, and that he admitted to police that he had been drinking that night and was intoxicated.
It was reported that the three passengers who were killed were: Sharon Farmer, 69, of Pittsburg, Texas, Ukena Farmer, 45, of Dallas, Texas, and Stephen Figgins, 61, of Missouri City, Texas. Following the crash, the five surviving passengers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment. All of them were on their way from Texas to St. Robert to attend a funeral.
As of press time, Roberts remained in custody at the Greene County Jail pending his transfer to the Missouri Department of corrections.
