KAY FRANCIS MEEKER

Kay Francis Meeker, 85, of Springfield passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024. She was born in Ash Grove on Oct. 15, 1939; the daughter of William Thurman and Myrtle (Bolin) Floyd.
She graduated from Central High School in Springfield. In her early years, she worked at Consumer Grocers and Commerce Bank before deciding to become a homemaker. Later in life, she joined her son as a partner in Sunshine Bike Shop, dedicating many years to carrying on his legacy. In 2006, she founded the Kevin Umlauf Scholarship Foundation, blessing many students with college scholarships in her late son’s honor.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church for many years, where she participated in the choir.
She is survived by her sons, Kory Umlauf and Kenton (LuAnne) Umlauf; her sisters, Janice Floyd and Shirley Stewart; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kevin Umlauf; and her siblings: Earl Wayne Floyd, Donald Floyd, Joyce Harriman, Berl Floyd, Linda Faye and Glenda May.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield.
