Larry E. Jones

Larry E. Jones, 81, of Ash Grove, passed away Feb. 22, 2021. He was born May 13, 1939 in Stark City, to Eugene and Janice (Mallory) Jones. On June 26, 1959 Larry and Betty Hawes were united in marriage and shared over 61 years together.
Jones gave his heart to Jesus at the age of 19 and was an active member of Ash Grove First Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School in the children’s department, a leader of the RAs, a deacon, and sang bass in the choir. He was a volunteer fire fighter, EMT for the volunteer ambulance service, city council member and a school board member.
Jones is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Janice Jones; daughter, Sherry Lynn Jones; and brother, Robert Jones.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jones; children, Terry Jones and wife Becky, Kerry Rector and husband David, Gary Jones and wife Sara; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two in the womb; sister Sharon Morgan and husband Jim; brother, Leon Jones and wife Karen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at Ash Grove First Baptist Church, with burial following at Johns Chapel
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be given in Jones’ name to the Ash Grove First Baptist Church Building Fund or The Children’s Home in Mt. Vernon and may be left at the funeral home.
