LARRY A. LUDWIG

Larry A. Ludwig, 85, of Marionville passed away on Feb. 25, 2025. He was born in Hysham, Mont. on Aug. 31, 1939; the oldest of six children born to Antony and Lola (Reece) Ludwig.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and honorably served with this military branch for four years. He then re-enlisted with the US Army and continued to serve an additional 16 years until his retirement in 1977. While enlisted, he served as a member of the military police and then as a recruiter.
He had three children, Theresa, Rusty and Tina, and then on April 17, 1998, he  married Earnestine Tiede and she brought with her two children, Michael and Debra, whom he considered his own.
He was a talented writer, having published several books: The Waiting, Cille, Duke 8F15, and A Box of Rocks A Pair of Boots. He also enjoyed trout fishing at Roaring River State Park and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Marionville.
He is survived by his children: Theresa (Jason) Cotter, Rusty (Melissa) Ludwig, Tina Applegate and fiancée Eric Hill, Michael Ray (Pamela Ann) Pendergrass and Debra Rena Tibbits; 13 grandchildren: numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie and David Ludwig; sisters, Helen Morrill and Vicki Rehling; as well as special neighbors, Lexi and Dan Cheyenne and their children and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Earnestine; his sister, Bonnie Ludwig; and four great-grandbabies: Austin, Cory, Catherine, and Tobias who were all born angels.
Services with Pastor Lee Miller officiating were held on Monday, March 10, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. Burial, beside his wife Earnestine, was at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield with full military honors.
