Linda Joyce “Staas” Smock

Linda Joyce “Staas” Smock, 74, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021 at Fremont Senior Living Facility, Springfield. She was born Sept. 6, 1946 in Wishart, a community close to Bolivar, the daughter of James G. and Frances M. Staas.
Smock graduated from Marion C. Early High School, Morrisville. She lived and worked in the Springfield area all her life. She had two children and three grandchildren. She was a member of Crossway Baptist Church. She married Wayne Smock in 1989, they enjoyed 18 wonderful years together till cancer took Wayne in 2007.
In 1995, Smock was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which would be her battle to the end.
Smock was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four sisters, Virginia Patterson, Mary Fisher, Betty Wilson and Judith Ankrom.
She is survived by her two children; daughter Crystal “Christie” Hill and her husband John; son Joseph “Joe” Walker and his wife Bernadette. Three grandchildren. She also had two brothers, Bill Staas and Roy Staas; four sisters, Ruth Ross, Jean Hill, Dottie Sue Anderson and Debby Militscher and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery, Wishart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Smock’s name to the Parkinson’s Group of the Ozarks, 1136 E St Louis St, Springfield, MO 65806.
