Marie Burky

Marie Burky, 95, Clever, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020. She was born Sept. 12, 1925 in Christian County, to Otto Ted and Gertrude Susan (Teague) Utke. By the age of six, she had lost both of her parents and then was raised by her Grandfather and Grandmother Teague. She grew up in the hard times of the depression ,but never let it get her down. In high school, she worked at a diner in Aurora, serving soldiers that were going to WWII. On Oct. 7, 1948 she married Frederick Williams Burky and was married for 52 years. She was employed with the Clever School District for approximately 20 years, retiring as lead cook. She was converted at age 13 and was baptized in Crane Creek on Oct. 18, 1938.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, brother Willard Utke, and sister Aileen KingShe is survived by her sons Carl Lee (Jackie) Burky and Chester Alan (Cindy) Burky, four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nephews, Randy King and David King.Open house visitation, was from 9 a.m. to noon in Meadors Funeral Home, Clever, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 with a graveside service held at 1 p.m. in Smart Cemetery, Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Food Bank, Billings.
