MARY ANN HAYS
Mary Anna Hays, 83, of Clever passed away on Dec. 28, 2024. She was born in Stone County on April 30, 1941; the youngest of six children born to Lloyd “Bill” and Margaret (Conrad) White.
She attended Clever High School, where she graduated as salutatorian.
She married her high school sweetheart Bob Hays on July 2, 1959; they were married for 20 years before his passing in 2020.
Later in life, she went back to school to acquire her LPN nursing degree, she remained in the nursing field for a few years and then went to work for State Farm Insurance as an administrative assistant until she retired. She was a longtime member of Clever United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir every Sunday.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Engel and Jenny Baker; four granddaughters and their families; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Betty Meacheam and Faye Barrett; her sister-in-law, Dee White; and countless nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; three brothers: Gene, Jerry, and Billy White; and a son-in-law, Alan Baker.
Services were held on Jan. 3, at Meadors Funeral Home in Clever. Burial followed beside her husband in Delaware Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to: Least of These in Ozark.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Meadors Funeral Home in Clever.
