Maurice Lee Stiles

Maurice Lee Stiles, 83, of Lockwood passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. He was born July 6, 1942, in a small farmhouse in Dudenville, to Harold and Imogene (LaFon) Stiles. He was saved as a young boy at home. He graduated from Lockwood High School in 1960. On Jan. 3, 1965, he married Barbara Louise Potts.
He served in the United States Army for two years at Fort Story and Fort Eustis in Virginia Beach, Va. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wis., and remained active in banking for 47 years. He volunteered as an EMT with Dade County ambulance service. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He and Barbara attended Jerico Springs Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Thelma Stiles, and brother Russell Stiles. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 60 years; brother Carl Stiles, of Springfield; daughter Tina Tracy and husband Michael, of Carl Junction; son Mark Stiles and wife Julie, of Republic; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; also, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Graveside service at Anna Edna Cemetery at 19850 S 425 Rd in Jerico Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Jerico Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
