Republic’s Collings arrested for resisting arrest; McDowell also arrested

A Republic woman was booked into the Greene County Jail on Wednesday, May 1, after she was arrested in regards to an incident in which she allegedly fled from a police officer in her vehicle. Emma Rose Collings, 27, faces one count of resisting arrest by fleeing.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, on March 3, a Springfield Police officer reported seeing a gold 2002 Buick Century parked by the pumps at a gas station on Kearney Street near N. Delaware Ave. The officer stated that he had knowledge that Nicholas McDowell, 35, who had warrants out for his arrest, was in the vehicle. McDowell was in the front passenger seat, the officer said, and Collings was in the driver’s seat.
The officer reported that he pulled in front of the Buick, turned on the flashing lights of his patrol car, got out of his vehicle and gave McDowell and Collings an order to exit their car. After about 10 seconds, he said, Collings drove forward past the officer’s vehicle, exited the parking lot and drove south into the oncoming traffic lane. He also stated that she ran a red light and continued east on Kearney, nearly crashing into other vehicles.

Springfield Police later found the car abandoned on Glenstone; Collings was later found at a Walmart.
As of press time, Collings remained in custody at the Greene County Jail. She will next appear in court on Wednesday, May 22, for a criminal setting hearing.
McDowell, who was charged with one count of resisting arrest and two misdemeanor counts of stealing, was sentenced to 53 days in jail on April 25, with credit for time served. However, according to information provided by the Missouri Department of Corrections, he was serving a 10-year prison sentence for charges of assault, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest in a separate case. As of press time, he remained in the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center.
