RETHA MARIE (MACOM) MINOR

Retha Marie (Macom) Minor, 93, of Republic passed away on Sept. 18, 2024. She was born in Oklahoma on Dec. 14, 1930; the daughter of Austin and Ella Macom, and was raised in Hollister.
She worked as a secretary at Campbell 66 for seven and a half years and later served for four years as secretary at First Baptist Church of Republic, where she had been a dedicated member since 1978. After her retirement, she continued to give back, volunteering at Mercy (St. John’s) for 25 years. She was also a proud member of the Happy Hens and the Red Hats for many years.
In April of 1949, she met Edward L. Minor, on a blind date. They wed on June 5, 1956, in Clarksdale, Miss., and shared 63 years together before his passing. The couple moved to Republic in 1978.
 She is survived by her son, Edward Wynn Minor of Elkland; her daughter, Erin (Bruce) Loveland of Republic; her sisters, Vada Houston of Crane and Barbara Herd of Springfield; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her oldest son, Eric Wayne Minor.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, Sept. 22, at First Baptist Church of Republic.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Meadors Funeral Home in Republic.
