Reverend James “Jim” Mac Collison

Reverend James “Jim” Mac Collison, 79, passed away on Dec. 20, 2025. He was born in Greene County on March 10, 1946, to Harry and Virginia Dean “Doby” Collison.
A devoted pastor, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he lived a life marked by service, faith and generosity. He was a faithful member of Solid Rock Cowboy Church in Grovespring. Throughout his life, he served his community in many roles, including Sheriff’s Deputy in Laclede County, Medical First Responder, electrician, plumber and custodian. He was also dually retired from Gospel Publishing House and Positronic Industries. He was an active member of the Grovespring Lion’s Club and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
On July 25, 1964, he married Lorena Mae Darrow. His ministerial legacy includes being a founding pastor of a church in the Phillipsburg area and pastoring Mt. Sinai Assembly of God in Rogersville for 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorena Mae Collison; his father Harry Collison and stepmother Georgia; his mother Virginia Mincks and stepfather Ervine Mincks; and his sisters Betty J. Wixon and Barbara Rust.
He is survived by his son, J.D. Collison and wife Angelia, of Grovespring, and his daughter, Renae Weddle and husband Charlie, of Lebanon. He is also survived by his three grandchildren; as well as his two great-granddaughters; an honorary great-grandson; his brothers Paul Collison, Val Collison and wife Janice and Keith Collison and wife Theresa; his sister Dianne Mingus; and a host of nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
