RITA ANN HOUSTON

Rita Ann Houston, 82, of Springfield passed away on Oct. 20, 2024, after a long illness with dementia. She was born on Sept. 21, 1942, in Jackson, Tenn.; the daughter of Johnnie and Thelma Askew.
She went on to become  a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1979.  She worked  for Springfield Community Hospital as well as The Shealy Institute, both in Springfield, MRC in Mt. Vernon, and Cox Medical Center in Springfield.
She married Odis Houston in 1961 and they were married for 30 years.
She is survived by her children, Don (Deb) Houston of Columbia and Amy (Aaron) Austin of Halltown; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Scott Askew.
