RUBY JEWEL WHITE

Ruby Jewel White 94, of Battlefield passed away on Nov. 15, 2024. She was born in Springfield on Jan. 23, 1930; the daughter of Hosea Columbus Pfeifer and Rachel Caldwell Pfeifer.
She attended Springfield Senior High School.
She married Wallace Hough in 1948, and four children were born to this union. Together they raised four children while they also owned and operated Hough’s Market for decades serving the northside Springfield community. She later worked as a teller at Commerce Bank until her retirement.
She is survived by her sons, Wally (Jill) Hough and David (Linda) Hough; her daughters, Rachel Kay Mills and Cindy (Steve) Brown; 10 grandchildren: Griffin Hough, Tim Bristow, Jennifer Stevens, Olivia Hough, Landon Hough, Lincoln Hough, Lyon Hough, Andy Brown, Natalie Kendrick, and Alex Brown; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren at last count.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Pratt; brother, Hosea C. Pfeifer, Jr.; sister, Margie Crocker; and husbands: Wallace Dean Hough, Eugene Henderson, and Stanford White.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield.
